BY PLANE

The Circuit de Catalunya is probably the most accessible of the Formula 1 circuit by air. Barcelona's El Prat airport is an international hub connecting to most European capitals. It is served by low-cost airlines, standard airlines and overseas connections from the USA and other American states. El Prat also has excellent train connections to Barcelona and even the circuit. 

Some budget airlines land at Girona airport, about 70 kilometres north of Barcelona and only about 50 kilometres from the Circuit de Catalunya at Montmeló. This airport is also a good alternative, especially for budget travellers. You can also visit the Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres, about 50 kilometres north of Girona.

From the airport to the circuit

By Car 

• Car rentals: Barcelona's El Prat Airport offers a wide range of car rental options. You can choose from various operators such as Avis, Europcar and others.
• Driving: The circuit is about 45 minutes to 1 hour from Barcelona-El Prat Airport, depending on traffic. You can rent a car from the airport. The route primarily involves taking the C-31 to connect with the AP-7 or C-33 highways, leading directly to the circuit.
• Parking: Parking at the circuit is available, but it’s highly recommended to book in advance during race weekends. More details here.

By taxi

• Cost: A taxi from the airport to the circuit costs approximately €60-€90, depending on traffic and demand. You can also use Uber service.
• Travel Time: Expect around 45 minutes to 1 hour for the trip.

By train

• Route: From the airport, take the R2 Nord train towards Granollers Centre, and transfer at Barcelona-Sants or Barcelona Passeig de Gràcia station to catch a train to Montmeló, the nearest station to the circuit.
• Walking: The Montmeló station is about a 25-minute walk from the circuit.
• Travel Time: Around 1 hour to 1.5 hours, depending on connections.

By private transfer

• Pre-booked Transfers: You can arrange private transfers or shuttle services directly from the airport to the circuit. This is a convenient and time-efficient option, especially during large events like the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
